This will actually be the third time that I redo the highway chase, as the first time I did it, I got to the boss only to realize that I didn't have any materia equipped (lol). The first time it happened was seconds before I was able to save my game after getting out of Midgar, meaning that I now have to redo the annoying highway minigame and refight the boss (the second time was when testing the controller after making this thread). Twice now I have had to hold down the power button of my computer to hard reboot it because of this nonsense. Oh, I didn't even mention the reason why I was so angry initially and why I so wanted to deactivate this shit: pressing 元 and popping up Steam's virtual keyboard LITERALLY HARD CRASHES MY COMPUTER BY FREEZING IT. Still, if any of you have any idea how I could get Steam to only use one of the controller it recognizes (I guess the 360 one since that's what 7th Heaven recognizes), I would welcome it. I am (pleasantly) surprised that this doesn't happen often, and seems to only happen with a d-pad input. This would also explain why sometimes, in the game, a button input in the menu would register twice. Guide With your controller on, open Controller Settings: Steam > Settings > Controller > General Controller Settings Using the controller, highlight Xbox One. I didn't touch the BPM configuration, as Steam gives a stern warning that reads something like "WE HEAVILY RECOMMEND THAT YOU DO NOT MESS WITH THIS SHIT", so I didn't. Just for good measure, I did what Android Sophia suggested and I applied the "gamepad" template to the desktop configuration. I was able to deactivate it (I had to use a combination of my keyboard and the controller, as each button press on the controller was registered twice by Steam, and sometimes my mouse cursos would flicker in and out of existence and functionality as Steam was trying to use the controller). And lo and behold, there was the fucking keyboard parameter tied to 元. When I noticed that Steam was detecting a 360 controller on top of my DS4 (when I went into the controller settings after having launched 7th Heaven), I finally saw the controller settings that the game uses, which are the 360 ones. However, what I didn't know before now is that apparently, 7th Heaven duplicates the Dualshock 4 into a 360 controller (I believe this has to do with Xinput vs Dinput). But since the update hit last summer, it can, which is how we are finally able to use Steam's wrapper. In previous versions of 7th Heaven (before this past summer), it wasn't possible to use Steam's controller wrapper. Modded FF7 uses the game's 1998 executable instead of the 2015 Steam one. 7th Heaven has a built-in tool that lets it use Steam's controller wrapper. I am playing modded FF7 through the mod manager called 7th Heaven. So the game that I am playing is Final Fantasy 7, but modded. The reason that this wasn't the case before (as per the previous image) is because I hadn't booted the mod manager yet. Somehow, rebooting PC repairs this issue. There are two controllers detected. Some people report that they have tried everything but the problem persists still. If the above methods can help you solve the issue, you can try rebooting PC. Change the default language to the language that Steam and Skyrim are currently set to run in.Skip to the Keyboard and Languages tab, and click Change Keyboards. This should bring up the Region and Language control panel. In the run box, type " cpl" and press Enter.Press Windows key + R to call out the run dialogue. In this case, you can try changing the Region and Language in Windows to solve this problem. The Skyrim keyboard not working issue may also occur because a conflict between the language settings of the Operating System, the game, and the keyboard. Disable steam controller or other controller home button and other non-game inputs for steam games.
